How a scroll compressor works?

The compression leaves one vortex disk stationary (fixed vortex disc), while the other vortex (rotating vortex disc) can move in planetary motion (but not rotate) around the first disc. When this motion occurs, the space between the two discs is slowly pushed toward the center of the two vortex discs, while the volume decreases. When the space reaches the center of the vortex discs, the high pressure gas is discharged through a channel located in the center. During the compression process, multiple chambers are compressed simultaneously, creating a very smooth process. The suction process (outside of the vortex discs) and the exhaust process (inside) are continuous.
