3. With state-of-the-art compressor technology and the industry's emphasis on effi ciency, compressor characteristics such as horsepower and displacement are no longer viable means of selecting

replacement compressors. Today's high effi ciency compressors will have a greater capacity for a

given horsepower (BTU/HP). Therefore capacity (BTU/HR) is the only acceptable means of selecting a replacement compressor.

4. Crankcase heaters are strongly recommended on all systems where the compressor is exposed to

cold ambient temperatures, on all split air conditioning systems, and on packaged air conditioning

equipment 5 HP and larger.

5. Check and replace the contactor, if required, on three phase compressors.
