Field troubleshooting of the motor protection module:
Disconnect power to the control circuit and module, bypass the module, remove the control circuit wires from the M1 and M2 terminals of the module, and connect a jumper to the control circuit wires to bypass the "control circuit" of the module. (Note: Now that the compressor's internal motor protection module has been bypassed, this method can only be used for transient testing of the module.) Turn the power back on to the control circuit and module and test run the compressor. If the compressor does not run when the module is bypassed, the fault is not in the control system or the module. If the compressor will run when the module is bypassed but not when the module is reconnected, then the control loop relay in the module is disconnected. The thermistor chain now needs to be tested to determine if the disconnection of the module control loop relay is caused by high internal temperatures or a failure of the component.
